Managing Eldercare (6 ADLs) and Caregiver Self Care Effectively
About This Course
This program provides learners with an understanding of the importance and expectation of the caregiving (delivery of 6 ADLs) role, and educates learners to appreciate other roles that might be involved in the caregiving of the elderly. Amidst the ongoing expectations of being a caregiver, Learners are also taught how to take care of oneself by engaging in positive practices of caregiver selfcare.
The main aim of this foundational program is to equip learners with skills to assist the elderly to carry out their basic 6 ADLs effectively.
As movement and mobility is an important ADL, Learners are also equipped with the knowledge of how to anticipate and prevent falls at home, to support elderly who are fall-risk and manage any emergency situations that might arise from a fall and affect the elderly’s mobility.
What You'll Learn
This foundational program targets individuals with no prior training in communicating or caregiving with elderly or who may have prior minimal contact with elderly whose 6 ADLs are impacted and now require caregiving. It first provides learners with a basic understanding of caregiver roles and expectations, then equips the learner with an appreciation of the other roles involved in the caregiving of the elderly.
This program also educates learners how to deal with the expectations of caregiving, by prioritizing caregiver selfcare and equipping them with positive selfcare practices that learners can engage in independently.
