Tripartite Maritime Training Award (Engine) Training Programme
About This Course
The Tripartite Maritime Training Award (TMTA) is a career development programme that prepares Singaporeans and Permanent Residents to join the maritime industry and pursue their aspirations as Marine Engineers onboard ocean-going ships.
The Tripartite Maritime Training Award (Engine) Training Programme, aka Phase 3, is a preparatory course for students before they take their Certificate of Competency Class 5 Marine Engineer Officer examinations. They will attend full-time classroom-based training and practical lessons for six months, covering a series of modules listed below. The course is in accordance with the provisions of regulation III/1.2 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (STCW 1978).
Bite-sized e-learning nuggets and quizzes form the bulk of the course material for teaching and learning. These e-learning nuggets promote differentiated learning for students with diverse backgrounds. The course leverages on the use of technology for teaching, learning and assessment, with hands on simulator exercises in the Full Mission Engine Room Simulator. The course is facilitated by senior practitioners in their pursuit of knowledge, skills, and safe working practices required in the industry.

What You'll Learn
2)Auxiliary Machinery-To build on the fundamental knowledge and help students to understand the construction and working of various auxiliaries and machines. It will also help them to see how different subjects studied are interlinked to see the formation of a "System" and how this should be managed.
3)Engine Room Simulator II-To provide students with simulator software which creates the realism by displaying the various process variables in the local instrument gauges and noise that corresponds to the ship engine room scenarios.
4)Engine Room Watchkeeping, Safety and Emergency Procedures-To provide students with basic knowledge and awareness of engine room watch-keeping, safety and emergency procedures and engine room resource management.
5)Integrated Control-To equip students with theoretical and practical knowledge to enable them to operate and maintain control equipment and systems onboard ship, and to lay foundation for further education. The subject coverage includes shipboard process controls, fundamentals of pneumatic and electronic controls and programmable logic controller.
6)Electrotechnology II-To provide students with knowledge and understanding of shipboard electrical machines and distribution system. This will enable them to effectively contribute to the running, maintenance and fault diagnosis of electrical equipment.
7)Interpretation of Shipboard Drawings-To provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills in producing drawings of engineering components, single line diagrams, block diagrams of engineering systems of other related disciplines, and marine machinery assembly drawings.
8)Ship Powering and Construction-To provide students with an understanding of ship power requirements
