Suicide Loss: psychological interventions (level 2) (Classroom and Asynchronous E-learning)
About This Course
The impact of a suicide death extends far beyond the individual—research estimated that approximately 135 people are impacted at varying degrees by each suicide. These individuals, often referred to as suicide survivors, face the dual challenges of grieving their loss while managing the trauma surrounding the death. Within families and close social systems, differences in how individuals grieve can further complicate the healing process, often leaving survivors without adequate support from one another.
In the longer term, professionals play a crucial role in supporting suicide survivors to process their experience and recover from trauma-related symptoms.
This Level 2 course equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to provide sustained psychological support to suicide survivors. Drawing on current literature, real-life case scenarios, and simulated role plays, participants will learn to apply integrated psychological interventions for traumatic grief in the context of suicide. The course also emphasizes the importance of peer and self-care strategies when working with this vulnerable population, ensuring professionals can sustain their own well-being while supporting others.
