AI Essentials
About This Course
AI is now embedded in the tools most professionals use daily, yet many have been asked to work with AI before being given a clear explanation of what it is, how it works, what it does well, and where it fails. This course closes that gap by building the foundational AI literacy that safe and productive workplace AI use requires, with no technical background needed.
This course covers what artificial intelligence and machine learning are and how AI systems produce their outputs, the differences between generative AI, predictive AI, and AI agents, and how organisations integrate artificial intelligence into business and operation processes across functions such as marketing, operations, customer service, and decision making. Trainees apply a structured framework to assess whether a task is appropriate for AI assistance, and identify suitable AI tools and use cases for defined business objectives.
It also develops the judgement that responsible use depends on. Trainees evaluate the effectiveness of AI applications and their outputs, detecting hallucinations, bias, and outdated information using a systematic checklist, and apply responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance with ethical principles, data privacy obligations, and risk requirements when using AI in a professional context.
By the end of the course, trainees will be able to explain how AI works, assess where it should and should not be used, select suitable AI tools for business needs, evaluate AI outputs before relying on them, and use AI responsibly within organisational and regulatory requirements.
