About This Course
By the end of the course, learners will be able to :
1. Illustrate how the TCOM framework is applied in helping families in the local context
2. Rationalise the use of FAST as an assessment tool for communication
3. Analyse the principles of the FAST assessment tool
4. Quantify the family’s needs and strengths using the FAST
5. Analyse the needs and strengths to be prioritised in a case plan
6. Formulate a case plan to address prioritised needs and strengths

Entry Requirements
The target audience includes all social service professionals who work with families such as social workers, heads of family service centres and school counsellors.
The skills and knowledge for this course, which the learner is assumed to possess, are as follows:
• Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6
• Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6
• Be able to use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 6
