Apply development theories when working with children and youths (Classroom & Asynchronous)
About This Course
This course would equip practitioners with the competencies to apply knowledge of relevant development theories when working with children and youths. The key focus of the course is to provide practitioners with the relevant understanding of various lifespan development theories and theories of family development. Common behavioural issues at different developmental stages as well as youth trends will be discussed, and participants will have an opportunity to apply the theories covered and discuss appropriate intervention strategies when working with children and youth clients as well as their caregivers.
At the end of the course, learners are required to undergo an assessment which comprises a case study and oral questioning.
The knowledge and abilities in this course will be aligned to the Proficiency Level 2 of the related Technical Skills Competencies in the Skills Future Singapore WSQ Skills Framework (please visit www.skillsfuture.sg/skills-framework/social-service for more info

Entry Requirements
The skills and knowledge for this course, which the learner is assumed to possess, are as follows:
• English proficiency level equivalent to Grade C6 of GCE ‘O’ Level English or Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 5.
• Numeracy skills at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 5.
• Basic Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills.
