What You'll Learn

With the introduction of the new Skills Framework for Social Service and awareness of trends and developments to then apply these trends back to professional work are being identified as a critical work function for social workers and youth workers, SSI sees an urgent need to develop appropriate training programmes to build competency in this area, since there is a lack of such training. The Learning & Professional Development team at SSI deliberated on this training need, and in consultation with some external stakehold-ers concluded that SSI should take the lead and offer WSQ Current Developments and Trends, and Apply Domain Knowledge to Trends Within The Social Sector to meet the sectoral need.

The competencies that learners will acquire through this course are extremely important for professional work to be performed seamlessly and successfully, as social work involves interaction with clients which can be very diverse with fast changing needs and environment for social service practitioners. Practitioners must have the most up to date domain knowledge and skills to help them in staying relevant and effective in their professional duties in a fast moving and diverse environment

Entry Requirements

• English proficiency level equivalent to Grade C6 of GCE ‘O’ Level English or Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 5.
• Numeracy skills at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 5.
• Basic Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills.
