About This Course

This 14-hour workshop is designed for senior teachers and centre leaders
1. To be aware of their current state of practice in working with families
2. To familiarize themselves with the "design thinking" approach and to apply it to family engagement.
3. To put into practice the six Family-School Partnership Standards

What You'll Learn

This workshop will take the learners through the journey from family involvement to family engagement. Learners will take a self-assessment of their current practice with families and discover ways to engage families in their centres. They will use the "design thinking" approach in engaging families and the six Family-School Partnership Standards as outlined by the standards set by the National Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) - USA. The six standards are:
1. Welcome all families into the school community
2. Communicate effectively
3. Support student success
4. Speak up for every child
5. Share power
6. Collaborate with the community
