About This Course
The Fundamentals Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education Course introduces the novice teacher to the early childhood profession by exploring her role as a teacher assistant and equipping him/her with the necessary skills in an early childhood setting. By understanding the child, the teacher assistant will be able to assist in providing appropriate materials and daily activities for young children (birth to eight years old) in group settings. The course also aims to raise the assistant teacher's awareness in the areas of children's safety, health, nutrition, child abuse, neglect and professional principles on early childhood education. The assistant teacher will be encouraged to engage in reflective practice, promote positive relationships with families, and foster her positive sense of identity and personal effectiveness.
