About This Course
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
1. Explain early intervention principles, practices and interventions.
2. Identify areas of focus for observations and documentation of children’s learning based on family or caregiver priorities and children’s needs.
3. Review observations and documentations of children’s functional participation to refine teaching and learning strategies.
4. Refine the individualised teaching and learning approaches to further support the holistic development of children.
5. Adapt activity planning and design resources to meet the functional learning goals, objectives, needs and interests of children.
6. Assess effectiveness of teaching and learning approaches.

Entry Requirements
New entrants to social services and these practitioners work in Early Intervention Programmes for Infants and Children (EIPIC) Centres, Integrated Child Care Centres (ICCC), pre-schools, special education schools and early intervention roles in social service agencies.
The skills and knowledge for this course, which the learner is assumed to possess, are as follows:
• Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6;
• Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6;
• Be able to use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 6; and
• Learners need to have basic knowledge of computer skills.
