About This Course

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
• LO1. Assemble tools and equipment required for dim sum preparation
• LO2. Prepare ingredients for different types of dim sum dishes
• LO3. Combine ingredients into the dim sum items to be cooked
• LO4. Cook different dim sum dishes at required temperatures using appropriate techniques across required time intervals
• LO5. Apportion, plate and store finished products and ingredients appropriately
• LO6. Restore workstations after cooking

What You'll Learn

This course will equip learners with the knowledge and skills to prepare an assortment of basic dim sum dishes commonly seen in Chinese restaurants. Learners will acquire this expertise in preparing moist-heat dim sum dishes – Har Gow, Xiao Long Bao, Hong Kong Style Egg Tarts, Salted Egg Custard Buns, and Siew Mai – through a combination of hands-on practical training and classroom learning.

Entry Requirements

"Entry Requirements
- Learners should be at least 18 years old
- Learners should have at least primary school or equivalent education
- Learners must be able to listen, speak, read, and write English at a level equivalent to Workplace Literacy - Level 4 and above.
- Learners who do not meet the above requirements will be required to go through a short interview to verify their language and cognitive ability.
