Family and Caregiver Engagement (WSQ) (Classroom & Asynchronous)
About This Course
Learners will be able to engage families and caregivers in complementing the centre’s collaborative programs and activities and guide them in decision making for the child.
What You'll Learn
2: Identify mandated parent involvement and assess support needs and the gaps in the families’ understanding of children development
3: Identify attitudes of teachers that help build foundations of a successful partnership and facilitate informed choice and decision making by families.
4: Build rapport with families to facilitate home-centre collaboration.
5: Promote positive learning outcomes for children through family involvement and engagements
6: Assess effectiveness of communication and engagement methods
7: Educate families or caregivers on children development and the factors that impact development.
8: Coach families and caregivers to support the learning and development of children
Entry Requirements
Educational Level, and language & literacy proficiency level
• GCE ‘N’ Level
• Demonstrate English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills at a proficiency level not lower than the ES WSQ Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 4
Required years of experience - No prior work experience is required.
Assumed Attitude, Skills and Knowledge
Learners are assumed to have the following skills, knowledge and attitude:
• Positive attitude towards learning and ability to communicate with team members effectively
• Willingness to help children with special needs
• It is recommended that learners have completed the Level 2 course of ‘Early Intervention: Fundamentals and Principles’ and have acquired some basic knowledge of early intervention.
Potential learners who do not meet the abovementioned requirements but possess the relevant job experience, and/or have the passions to serve the social service sector, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
