System Builder with Google AI: Transforming Learning Workflows with Custom AI Tools
About This Course
Most educators use AI in isolated, one-off ways, missing the larger opportunity to transform how their work actually flows. This is not another prompt course; it is a workflow redesign and prototyping course aimed at repeatable, scalable improvement. This advanced course moves participants from individual AI use to building scalable, custom AI-supported systems. Participants learn to analyse and redesign workplace learning workflows, then prototype custom solutions using Gemini Gems, Gemini Canvas, and Google AI Studio.
Anchored in IAL’s ADAPT at the Advanced level, the course keeps the focus on systems that genuinely improve efficiency, consistency, learner support, and collaboration, not automation for its own sake. Through hands-on prototyping, workflow-redesign challenges, and implementation planning, participants leave able to design and integrate AI-supported workflow systems into their educational and workplace practice, while maintaining ethical oversight, human judgement, and quality-assurance safeguards.
What You'll Learn
This course introduces practical strategies for transforming workplace learning workflows using Gemini Gems and Gemini Canvas, with Google AI Studio presented as an optional extension for participants with higher technical confidence or access. Participants use Automation Opportunity Mapping to identify workflow inefficiencies, redesign repetitive educator tasks, and prototype AI assistants and automated processes that support learning, assessment, communication, and administration.
Grounded in Wenger's Communities of Practice framework and principles of human-centred automation, the course positions AI as a tool to augment educator capability rather than replace professional judgement. Participants progress from AI users to system builders, designing scalable workflow solutions within their learning communities.
As the closing chapter of the IAL-Google (ADAPT) Certification Programme, Movement 3: "I can change this," participants earn the AI Innovator capability, enabling them to design, build, and deploy custom AI-supported workflow systems that transform workplace learning at scale.
The course develops Advanced-level proficiency in ADAPT: Digital & AI Literacy Development (3.1) and Resource Creation (3.4) under Digital Literacy & Resources, Ethical Data Use (2.4) in Assessment, and Reflection & Leadership and Collaboration & Networking (4.3, 4.1) in Professional Engagement. Building on the professional brand and presence developed in "Thought Leader" (Course 5), it enables participants to move from individual AI use to creating reusable AI-supported workflow systems while advancing their ADAPT proficiency as adult educators.
