About This Course

Mental well-being is a growing concern in organisation across many industries. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), a healthy state of mental well-being can contribute to improved productivity. Work stress and a negative working environment can lead to physical and mental health challenges, leading to decreased productivity.

Recent studies have highlighted the widespread and persistent symptoms of distress, depression, and anxiety in the workplace. Approximately one in four respondents reporting signs of burnout because of “toxic” behaviour work environment. These researches have gone on to highlight the importance of the employer and leaders in building an inclusive practice, sustainable, and caring environment for individual learning and growth.

Self-Mastery in leadership is our ability to master our emotions, attention, thoughts, motivation, and actions to achieve our goals in life. The objective of this course is to equip learners especially senior management and leaders with the Self-Mastery skills specifically in Coaching mental well-being in the workplace. It involves the understanding of self-acceptance, self-esteem, and compassion, developing one’s inner strength to manage stress and building resilience and self-care to overcome challenges. Ultimately, this will translate to a more positive work culture, resulting in improved productivity. It will also help in employee engagement management to reduce employee attrition rates, burnouts, sick leave, and absenteeism.

What You'll Learn

This course is the Module 5 of the Certified Self-Mastery Coach (CSMC) program, an International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited coach certification program. Participants who complete the full CSMC Level 2 program will be eligible to apply for ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential through the Level 2 credentialing applications.

There are 3 key topics that will be covered:
1. Facilitate Self-Care Strategies to Manage Stress.
Participants will explore Positive Psychology in facilitating well-being. They will learn about inclusive practices such as Self-evaluation and Self-acceptance concepts to manage stress. They will apply the skills and techniques to facilitate self-care strategies to avoid burn-out.

2. Maximise Strengths to Improve Work-Life Balance.
Participants will learn the skills to cultivate growth mindset and increase strength awareness to improve work-life balance. They will also apply strengths coaching techniques in managing stress and in performance management.

3. Build Resilience to Manage Workplace Challenges.
Participants will analyse the reasons behind various thought patterns affecting team members’ well-being. Differentiating the various levels of resilience and how negativity and positivity biases impact individuals. They will also learn to facilitate coping strategies to build team resilience and how to motivate team members to implement self-care activities.

This course uses Positive Psychology and Advanced Coaching Principles in its approach to enable learners with practical and scientifically proven interventions. Positive Psychology is a scientific study, development and application of positive interventions aimed at increasing well-being. The Coaching competencies are aligned to International Coaching Federation (ICF), a global organisation that sets the guidelines and standards for coaching.

Entry Requirements

The Entry Requirements are as follows:
• At least Polytechnic Diploma or University Degree using English as the medium of learning
• AND at least 8 years of work experience in an organisation
• AND at least 3 years of supervisory experience in an organisation
• Digital literacy is required (e.g., have attended SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace)
